Analytical Exposition

An analytical exposition is a type of spoken or written text that is intended to persuade the listeners or readers that something is the case.

Generic Structure of Analytical Exposition

1. Thesis : Introduces the topic and shows speaker or writer’s position; Outlines of the arguments are presented.
2. Arguments : It consists about Point and Elaboration Point, states the main argument
3. Elaboration, develops and supports each point of argumentConclusion : Reiteration (restatement), restates speaker or writer’s position

Grammatical Features

1. An analytical exposition focuses on generic human and non human participants.
2. It uses mental processes. It is used to state what the writer or speaker thinks or feels about something. For example: realize, feel etc.
3. It uses emotive and evaluative words
4. It often needs material processes. It is used to state what happens, e.g. ….has polluted… etc.
5. It usually uses Simple Present Tense and Present Perfect Tense.
6. Enumeration is sometimes necessary to show the list of given arguments: Firstly, secondly …, Finally, etc.The example of analytical exposition text

   Why is It Important to Choose the Accredited School?
   Most of teenagers need to go to school and there are a lot of schools over there. Nowadays, schools grow to offer plenty of choice; private and state ones. However it is a hard choice since there are many factors which need to be considered before making the selection. Some will be influenced by friends; because some friend got to certain school than we go to there too. Some prefer to choose certain school because of the closer distance. In fact, the primary decisive matter for selecting school is whether the school has been accredited or not.
   Why is important to choose an accredited school? Well, accredited schools have an edge over the unaccredited schools. This label of Accredited School has an impact in employment opportunities. As result, if there are two or more students with similar qualifications, the student who comes from the accredited school will have an edge over the other candidate. Student from an accredited school has more open door than student with an accredited one.
   Many students select certain school depending more on short term factors like friend influence and short distance from home. It is not bad since commuting actually needs much cost. Choosing school which is closer to home will save time, energy and money. However if that school is not accredited, the time and money spent along studying seems to be waste in the long term because it could become a limiting factor in gaining future opportunities.
   Accredited school is not the only factor which will drive student’s success. Personality and characterization are very important too. However a student with good personality who comes from an accredited school is better than the others.

    Global warming.

   Thesis

   Everybody should change their way of life to reduce global warming. There are several things that we can do. One of them is by buying and consuming fresh local groceries as much as possible. It of course includes local vegetables, fruits, bread, etc.

   Argument 1

   Local groceries don’t need much transportation to get it into the market. It of course means, the amount of carbon dioxide produced is less than the groceries from other region. Therefore, by buying local groceries we are helping reduce the amount of carbon dioxide produced.

   Argument 2

   Consuming fresh groceries instead of frozen ones are healthier for us. Furthermore, fresh food or groceries means no requirements for it to be freeze up. It means that no electricity is needed and saving energy means reducing carbon dioxide and money.

   Reiteration

   So, from now on we should consume fresh local groceries to reduce global warming.

   Factors influence children

   Nowadays, children behaviors are influenced by televisions, strangers, friends, and family members. First, one influence that has major effect on children behavior is television. Believe it or not, television plays a big role in how kids act.

   Second, children may also influenced by they don’t know. Although most children are taught not to talk to strangers, we would be surprised how many actually do. Studies have shown that boys and girls talk to strangers and they are more likely to do what the strangers tell them. Sometime kids are influence by their friends. Friends are people who are so close to children, and they are people who children trust.

   Third, kids are mostly influenced by their parents because they are people who stay with kids most of their time. Kids tend to be like them. Parent play big role in children life. If kid sees his/her parent fight  all the time at home, it will probably make him or her become rude.

   Finally, children’s mind is very delicate thing. Everything that happens to a young child will affect how she or he thinks and act in the future.
